GEOLAB 2025 – ONLINE

After the highly successful Geolab 2018, Geolab 2019, Geolab 2023 and Geolab 2024 - the Inter- School Earth Science based project contests, we bring to you the fifth edition of the earth science project contest - The Geolab 2025 - Online.

IMPORTANT DATES

This is the last date for submitting only the proposal i.e. the title, school and team details . You can do this by registering online at https://cerg.org.in/geolab-2025-registration.

The project does not have to be submitted by this date.

This is the last date for submitting the 3 minute video of the project. Link to upload videos will be provided to all those who have registered. All the submitted projects (videos) will be assessed by the jury to shortlist the entries for the final round.

The top 10 entries or top 10% (whichever is lesser) will be invited to present their project live (online or offline mode). The online presentation event will be held on the 10th and 11th of February 2025.

As in the previous contests, schools can take part in the competition by presenting a project based on a subject related to Earth Science and our annual theme. This year the theme is -  “Earth Science for a resilient future". Each school can submit more than one project proposal (brief summary) for contest.

We have two categories - The Inter school category open to school teams and an Individual category open to individuals studying in classes 5th to 10th and home schooling students of ages 9 to 15 years respectively.

  1. Proposal submission
    Submit a brief on your project (proposal) online. Last date for this submission is now extended to November 30th, 2025
  2. Project Submission
    On acceptance of the proposal,  the team will work and submit the project. The final project submission must be accompanied by a three (3) minute video on the project which is to be submitted online. Last date for submission is January 15th, 2025
  3. Final Live presentation
    The top 10 entries or top 10% (whichever is lesser) will be invited to present their project live (online mode). The online presentation event will be held on 10th and 11th February 2025

CONTEST GUIDELINES - COMMON

  • GeoLab 2025 Inter school project contest is based on a theme related to the field of Earth sciences encompassing subjects like Astronomy, Geography, Geology, Atmospheric sciences, Hydrosphere, Environment, etc.
  • The specific theme for the contest is Earth Science for a resilient future
  • The contest has two categories - Inter school (Teams) and Individuals
  • The contest is for students from 5th to 10th standard.
  • A proposal has to be submitted first.
  • A proposal is a brief summary and title of the project to be carried out. (see the registration form)
  • Qualification of entries for the contest will be based on the relevance to the subject and uniqueness of the proposed project/model.
  • Acceptance of the proposals will be made on an ongoing basis.
  • Schools / Individuals will be communicated the results within two to three days of receipt of the project proposal
  • Last date for submitting the proposal is 30th December 2025
  • The projects will be judged by a panel of Geoscientists & Educationists primarily on the relevance to the topic and other aspects like creativity, visualization, perspective and originality.
  • Other guidelines will be provided later to qualifying entries.
  • The top two/three entries will be awarded prizes and certificates of merit.
  • All other participants will be awarded digital certificates of participation.

INTER SCHOOL (TEAMS) CATEGORY

  • Each team should not have more than four members. Each team should have a project mentor, preferably a teacher.
  • Schools are welcome to submit more than one proposal.
  • Acceptance of the proposals will be made on an ongoing basis.
  • The top two/three entries will be awarded prizes and certificates of merit. All other participants will be awarded certificates of participation.

INDIVIDUAL CATEGORY

  • Students studying in standards 5th to 10th can take part in the competition on an individual basis. 
  • They need not be sponsored or nominated by the school.
  • Children between ages of 9 and 15 and undergoing home schooling of are also eligible to participate.
  • The individual student will have to submit a proposal
  • Prizes for the best individual projects will be awarded separately.
