Jal Katha 2022

Water is a scarce natural resource. Even though 71% of land is covered by water, only about 2.5% of the total water available on earth is fresh water and can be used for human consumption. Water scarcity is increasingly being felt in most nations, including highly developed countries. As the demand for water increases rapidly, the supply of fresh potable water is decreasing. Rapidly growing human population, changing climates, erratic rainfall and frequent droughts are contributing to the above. This is now becoming a serious global threat.

The objective of 'Jal Katha' is to encourage people to create an awareness of the importance of Water and highlight the common man’s role in protecting and avoiding wastage of this precious natural resource.

This year we bring to you Jal Katha in a different avatar - in the form of a virtual gallery highlighting the global water crisis and a special edition of our ever popular Online Quiz - the Geoquest Enlinea. This episode is based on water and sustainability.

We also launch our YouTube channel on this occasion. Our channel incorporates short films received as entries to our film festivals on World Water Day. To access the videos - click here - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCMZTvUzrdoi47d9pzIkeJkQ
