Have you ever wondered how Google finds your location?

Have you ever wondered about the science behind finding your location on the earth?

If so,  join us in our journey through the fascinating world of maps at the ‘Maps & Me’ workshop being conducted as a part of the Geoweek 2021.

In the ‘Maps & Me’ workshop we explore the basics of maps, satellite images and digital maps and how we find our direction.

You will learn to read maps and create your own maps. We will look at the science in finding a location and learn more about the myriad applications of digital maps.

Duration : 5 hours

Time : 9:00 am to 2:00 pm

WORKSHOP FEES

₹ 800/-  Per head

₹ 600/- for Students ( Valid ID card to be produced)

WHOS SHOULD ATTEND

Anyone can attend. This workshop is unique and has been designed for a common man with no prior knowledge of maps or GIS. No age bar and no prior requirements in terms educational background or experience.

  • Understanding basic elements of maps
  • Use of maps in our daily lives.
  • Basics of remote sensing & Satellite imageries
  • Photo recognition elements
  • Basics of Google earth and its applications
  • Identifying landforms using satellite images
  • Understanding applications of maps
  • Creating your own maps

The workshop will be delivered online 

METHODOLOGY

Facilitator driven and interactive with hands on activities.

REQUIREMENTS

  • A laptop with Google Earth pro pre-installed.
  • Mobiles cannot be used for the exercises.
  • Links to other files and material will be provided on registration.

LAST DATE FOR REGISTRATION & PAYMENT

The last date for booking a seat for the workshop is 16th November 2021.

Certificates will be awarded to all those who complete the exercises during the workshop.
